Cellnex Announces Support for Irish Children’s Cancer Charity

With Ambitious Plans to Build a New Therapeutic Centre in Mayo for Children With Cancer

Speaking about Cellnex’s support for Cancer Fund for Children, CEO Colin Cunningham said:

“It is our firm belief that no child should suffer cancer alone and Corporate Social Responsibility is at the heart of Cellnex and we are proud to support Cancer Fund for Children. The passion and commitment of their team to make a difference to families coming to terms with the devastating impact of a childhood cancer diagnosis is inspiring. We are delighted to help the charity build a new therapeutic short break centre for children diagnosed with cancer and their families and would encourage other businesses to get behind this incredible cause.”

It is the charity’s vision to build a second Daisy Lodge in Co. Mayo. This will be a dedicated short break facility for children aged 0-24 and their families. A place where they will find warmth, understanding, safety, and rest and will allow the charity to increase the number of families they support every year from 500 to 1,000.

The site of the new therapeutic facility in Lisloughery, Cong Co. Mayo is an area of outstanding natural beauty and with planning approval now secured, Cancer Fund for Children is embarking on a fundraising drive to secure €11.5m to build and run their purpose-built complex. The project is being backed by Rory McIlroy who donated €1.2m to the new facility.
